KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), Rhodes, Damatrios, magistrate, circa 201-190. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, ΔAMATPIA above rose; below throne, PO. Price -, cf. 2521 (ΔAMATPIOΣ). Apparently unpublished with the spelling ΔAMATPIA. A boldly struck and very well centered example. Very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
